Assault and Battery
Aggravated assault involves injuring another person with a gun, knife, car, or other dangerous weapon or instrument. Conviction often carries a mandatory prison term, even if you were acting in self-defense or defending someone else.
Assault and battery simply means applying force to someone else and causing harm. The charge is less severe than aggravated assault and does not always involve intentional conduct.
I have extensive experience handling assault charges, both as a prosecutor and in private practice. I am skilled at gathering, interpreting and challenging forensic evidence and witness statements. I will mount an aggressive defense so the jury can understand the whole story.
In addition to assault, I defend clients charged with everything from armed robbery to murder.
The primary advice I pass on to potential assault defendants is to never consent to searches without a search warrant, and never speak to police without an attorney present, no matter what investigators tell you. This will protect your rights, ensure police do their job correctly, and improve the chances of successfully defending the charges against you.
